Turkey Trot 5k 2010 Cooper River

This Thanksgiving I ran in the annual 5k at Cooper River.  My time was 27 minutes and change.  I ran, like I often do, with my really good friends the Gormans.  We go way back to EHS days.  The run is always a great way to start the holiday season.  This year the race was extra special and not just because the light snow that fell while we ran.  The Cooper River Turkey Trot supports breast cancer.   Breast cancer affects millions of families and this year it affected my good friends the Gormans.  Here is Amy and Ali in a 6-ABC news piece from two months ago…

And here is Amy crossing the finish line of the Turkey Trot not even two months later.  When she said she would do the run in the news piece, I assumed she meant, eventually.  That she did it this year? Well I don’t really even have the words to express how inspirational that is to me and so many others.  Great Job, Amy.

2016 Update.  I lost my friend Amy last year to cancer.   I miss her all the time.   This race got us back in contact and I was happy we stayed in better touch.

  3. Thanks for posting this picture. It’s so nice to see our Amy “opening up a can of Whoop Ass” on cancer. She used to say that all the time in the office. Seems like it’s been her mantra for the past year.
