Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is always fun. I take my God Son, Nick, to PHL17. Since he’s interested in media, we thought it might be fun to take Nick to a real press conference. The Mayor of Philadelphia was giving one to proclaim TODASTW in Philly, so it seemed a great fit. Not only were they accommodating, they were over the top awesome. Randy Giancaterino is my contact at the Mayors office. He was kind enough to share the Comicon work Nick did and when we got there, he and and fellow City Representative Sheila Hess really got Nick involved in an awesome way. I can’t thank them enough. This is the kind of experience that can really have an impact on not just Nick, but all the kids he will share it with. Here are some behind the scenes.
The Mayor seemed to really like Nick and Nick thought he was great too. The coolest part of the day for me, was THE TWEET. The Mayor tagged all the major stations in Philadelphia with a picture of Nick. I loved it because that’s exactly what I try and do at PHL17. We are the smallest station in town, so, we try and mix it up and do something different than the major stations do. And we knocked this one out of the park. Great branding for the station and a day Nick will never forget. Here is the article Nick wrote for PHL17.
Look out! There's a new reporter in town! pic.twitter.com/3eC36s45zS
