A few years back when I did my first coverage of “No Pants Subway Ride” in Philadelphia I didn’t think it would be something I’d come to enjoy. But flash forward to 2015 and several factors have lead this to be one that I really look forward to. First, it’s the first sizable thing I do in January that isn’t Mummers. Mummers is such a huge deal at the station I work for that it’s all Mums, all the time for a good month. Second, I have grown really fond of shooting in subways. Even the dirty ones like Philadelphia. I love the juxtaposition of some of the beautiful people with the grimy train as the backdrop. Here are some of my favorite images from that shoot and here is my extended coverage on PHL17.
But another really great thing happened to this event in 2015. Ray Wall of Philadelphia’s Got Laundry enlisted his entire business, and a good chunk of his family, to bring this event to a different level than previous years. Thanks to Ray the event had a charity spin like it never has, and a Philly feel it’s never had.
